In memoriam

Tutter Givskov died on the night of 16 February 2023

The Soloist Society has lost its honorary member Tutter Givskov. Already as a child, Tutter showed very special musical qualities, and at a young age she became concertmaster of the Tivoli Symphony Orchestra. Later also part of the Royal Danish Orchestra. Kapel. In the Tivoli Orchestra she performed the great classical violin concertos, creating a justified furore with her sparkling tone and convincing charisma. But it was not least as a chamber musician that Tutter occupied a unique position. As the primaria of the Copenhagen String Quartet, she set a towering standard for violin playing. She mastered the entire quartet repertoire, and her recordings with the quartet of Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Sibelius, Stenhammer, Gade, Kuhlau and Horneman, among others, are all in the highest class. As a friend of Vagn Holmboe, it became natural for the quartet to premiere much of Holmboe’s core work, the string quartets, and their recordings continue to have artistic value today. The third area where Tutter made a decisive difference was as a violin teacher and professor at the Aarhus Conservatory. From here she trained a number of outstanding violinists, who today are representatives of her high schooling and outstanding musicianship. In the Soloist Society of 1921, Tutter was for many years an essential part of the life of the society. Not only as an internal auditor, but with her strong and charming personality a natural centre. Tutter will be buried in Kregme Church on Thursday, March 2, 2023 at 11 a.m., the church where her husband, Egil Harder is also buried. Glory be to the memory of Tutter Givskov.

Solistforeningen celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2021

And it was celebrated by all the rules of art with a magnificent anniversary concert on Sunday 12 September 2021 in DKDM’s fantastic concert hall at Rosenørns Alle 22, 1970 Frederiksberg

Just over 400 guests made their way to the celebration, which was a fireworks display of a concert presented by a fantastic team of some of the finest soloists and conductors in Denmark, as well as wonderful young singers from DKDM, who rounded off the concert with a terrific finale from Verdi’s “Falstaff” – all expertly and humorously led by the fabulous Henrik Engelbrecht, who tied the concert together from start to finish.

We thank you for the great support – and are delighted to now present beautiful videos and photos from the concert right here on the website! Have fun:)
